Innovative Weight Transfer System redistributes weight from center of planter to the wings.
Martin Till has released a retrofit Weight transfer system for several makes and models of John Deere planters. Last year we had a couple growers run them with tremendous success. The system comes with a mounting kit for a hydraulic cylinder on each wing, and a hand control to go in the cab of the tractor.
In the past, I have consistently fought pinch row compaction during planting. Not only have I been able to visually see a height difference on the center rows when looking over my corn, but I have also been able to pick out the center rows due to smaller ear size. This year, after installing the Martin Weight Transfer system on my 1790 planter, I cannot tell a single area where my center rows have been hurt more than the rows around them.
